The City of Victoria will accept applications from organizations seeking hotel occupancy tax (HOT) funds July 1-31.
Under state law, the City of Victoria collects a hotel occupancy tax from hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and other lodging facilities. The revenues collected may only be used to promote tourism and the convention and hotel industry.
Priority will be given to applicants based on their ability to bring overnight visitors to Victoria. Only those events and programs that generate meaningful hotel night activity will be eligible to receive hotel occupancy tax funds.
All requests for funding must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. CST on July 31. The application form will be posted to the City’s website at www.victoriatx.gov/hotfunds. Applicants should submit applications via email to: jnovosad@victoriatx.gov.
Applications will be reviewed by a HOT funds subcommittee of the City of Victoria’s Tourism Advisory Board, and recommendations will be made to the City Council in September. The City Council will make final decisions on funding.
Informational sessions covering the HOT funds application process and the evaluation process will be held on the following dates at 700 N. Main St., conference room 205:
- Monday, July 1 at noon
- Monday, July 8 at 6 p.m.
- Monday, July 15 at noon
